Official Portrait of Jim Lovell

Official NASA portrait of astronaut James A. Lovell Jr. Lovell flew to the Moon twice, first aboard Apollo 8 in 1968 and again as commander of Apollo 13 in 1970, when an oxygen tank explosion forced his crew to abandon their planned landing and fight for survival on the journey home — a story later dramatized in the film Apollo 13.
